Description

It is with a heavy heart that I find myself putting my beloved Capri up for sale, but I am looking for a new project.
I purchased her in August 2008 from eBay, she had been modified with 2. 8 injection engine and running gear and was advertised as being in ‘excellent condition’. As I was a bit more naive then I bought without looking at her first. It was when I got it home that I realised she was anything but ‘excellent’ as I put my finger through the sills, and the 2. 8 engine had been wired in using sellotape!
So, I will be as honest as possible when describing her to you now, but that said, it would still make sense to come and have a look at see for yourself. But no test pilots nor tyre kickers. Details are as follows:

-2. 8 running gear including brakes and type 9 5pd gearbox, as I had problems with this I paid a considerable sum to Capri specialists ‘Tickover’ to rebuild the Type 9 gearbox and fit a BOA 24v cosworth engine in its place. This is a lovely conversion offering lots of power and more reliable and economical than the 2. 8 it replaced (correctly updated on the V5)
-Single leaf rear springs fitted
-rebuilt LSD
-Polybushed throughout
-New front wheel bearings
-New track rod ends
-New custom built coilover front struts with 200lb springs
-New Kenlowe electric fan fitted with adjustable thermostat and boost button
-Alloy radiator
-Minator 13” minilights
-New rear drums and shoes
-recent vented discs and green stuff pads fitted
-Reconditioned front brake callipers
-Sills, rear valance fitted and various bits of bodywork completed while I have owned the car
-Bespoke interior including handmade red headlining, leather covered dash with red stitching, red carpets, red inertia seat belts, red custom mats.
-New door and window rubbers.
-New copper brake pipes
-Recent custom built stainless twin exit powerflow exhaust.
-2 years ago the underside was bare metaled, zinc primed and undersealed. Mostly only driven dry miles since then and no winter driving.
-New door cards
-Quality Alpine 4 speaker stereo with ipod connectivity.
-GXL style front end fitted
-RS 3100 fibre glass front wings fitted
-Rear axle Evolution location kit fitted
-New starter motor fitted
-Waxoyled throughout
-Waterless coolant added.

Not so good bits:
-When you get up close you will be able to see some very minor bubbling on the bottom of the rear arches, one side of the scuttle and on top of the windscreen.
-Heater works on the 2nd speed, 1st speed work occasionally.
-Rev counter does not work (will need an aftermarket one to be fitted to the newer engine).
-CD player does not work (has never bothered me as it has ipod connectivity)
-One of the minilights has a slight buckle, I rarely drive the car on the motorways so it has not really bothered me, have been told it should be able to be balanced out.
-Front valance is a bit stone chipped.
-Passenger window can be stubourn and can get stuck.
-Passenger side door lock does not lock, but there are deadlocks fitted which work.

I use this car daily during the summer months and since I have had the Cosworth engine fitted the reliability problems have been resolved. With the kenlowe fan it can sit all day in traffic and not overheat (commuting in London I have tried!). It pulls strongly through all 5 gears, exhaust sounds amazing and I cannot go anywhere in it without people smiling and giving me the thumbs up. I have receipts for work I have carried out far in excess of £10, 000. If you are looking for a concourse 3000E look elsewhere (and also have £25, 000 plus available). If you are used to modern hot hatches and think this will drive, stop, steer and be as refined as a modern machine, you also better look elsewhere, remember, it is 45 years old! This car has an agreed valuation of £16, 000 I am after £11, 500 ono. Please no silly offers, will rather hang onto it than let it go for much less.
I may PX for another classic, I would like some American Muscle, an old jag, perhaps a Willys Jeep or what have you got (classic only).
It is road tax exempt and will come with 12 months MOT (last several MOTS with me have never had any advisories). The car will not be released until all funds are cleared and confirmed by my bank.
