Description
Overdrive is offering for sale this 1973 BMW E9 3. 0 CSi, presented in the rare 3. 0 CSi version. This is the most powerful version of the range, equipped with Bosch electronic fuel injection delivering 200 hp.
The E9 Coupe is an iconic model of the 1970s: elegant, swift, and highly refined for its era, it remains BMW’s first grand touring sports car, initiating a prestigious lineage. The E9 also served as the basis for the legendary BMW 3. 0 CSL, nicknamed the “Batmobile”, which dominated the European Touring Championship in the 1970s. Today, it is a highly sought-after collectors’ car.
The example we are offering underwent a restoration four years ago, but some of the work now needs to be redone, hence the asking price. There are mainly bodywork corrections to be carried out and a substantial mechanical overhaul. We will provide more information and photos to genuinely interested parties.
This car could make an interesting base for a historic rally project since it is eligible for many historic rallies and races such as the Tour Auto, or as a base to reproduce its ultimate “CSL” version.
Given the value of this model in excellent condition, around €80, 000, it could also be a strong choice for a full restoration, noting that the car is in its original colour, Polaris Silver, and has its original engine (matching numbers). The original steering wheel is also supplied with the vehicle.
This vehicle is sold as a “restoration project”: it is therefore sold as-is, with no warranty.
