Description
Sunbeam motorcycle reg. no. BYB 939
Manufactured by Marsdens of Wolverhampton.
First registered 08/ 04/ 1936
Model – Lion long stroke 492cc side valve engine
The bike has an excellent and unique history with only 2 owners since new ; 86 years !
It has the original purchase receipt and the original log book.
It even has the Motorcycle magazines from 1935 and 1936 which had the advert for the bike.
The first owner bought it in 1936 and used it until 1947. He had it stored it in a shed since new.
My dad was given the bike in 1968 and restored it over a period of about 20 years.
It has been in dry storage the entire time.
The frame was professionally stove enamelled, the tank and wheels were spayed and gold lined. The engine was completely stripped and rebuilt and is in running order.(although will now need to be recommissioned)
The bike is virtually original – except the Bowden cables, the rear brake rod, footrests and brackets.
The bike is in storage near Winchester . Please call if you would like to see it.
