Description
One of the very first examples, fully restored, in exceptional condition.
This Dino holds the Certificate of Historical and Collectible Importance (C. R. S.) from ASI (Italian Club of Historic Automobiles), affiliated to FIVA (International Federation of Historic Vehicles).
The estimate of €78, 000 was carried out by Dinopoint.
I am breaking it in and I can tell you the engine is fantastic! The handling is excellent (despite its solid axle, but the Ferrari 250 GTO was likewise equipped…), the braking is surprisingly effective: it's a car you will fall in love with!
It is necessary to debunk the unfounded legend that the 2400 version would be superior: the 2000 is equipped with the original aluminium engine that raced and won in Formula 2, designed by Corradino “Dino” Ferrari, while the 2400 has a cast-iron engine and weighs 120 kg more (1, 400 kg vs 1, 280 kg). The power/ weight ratio between the two (1, 400/ 180 and 1, 280/ 160) differs by only 5%. Moreover, the driving of the 2400 is much more tiring, as the higher weight is amplified by the increased contact surface of the 205/ 14 tyres (compared with 185/ 14 for the 2000). Finally, only the 2400 required electric power steering, at a cost of €3, 500. The aluminium engine performed very well on circuits with straight sections under 2 km, but struggled to rev to 5, 500–6, 000 rpm for hours on the motorway. Thus, if you wish to use the Dino not only for pleasure on varied routes but also for long journeys, simply change the axle ratio and the engine speed drops (as in sixth).
The 2000 is the first model to emerge from the project. The Ferrari Dino 206 is also highly valuable because it has the original Dino engine, to such a degree that it is worth roughly twice a 246.
The car is located in Gallarate, only 6 kilometres from Milan Malpensa International Airport (MXP).
If you’d like to come and try it, I’d be happy to welcome you at the terminal and drive you to my workshop.
