Description

This highly uprated MGB GT has been subject of a high-quality restoration between 2016 and 2019 that has been superbly documented with photographic records, invoices and a handwritten parts and expenditure log. VRH 439S was purchased by its recent Lincolnshire based owner in 2016 as a roadworthy MGB that was ideal for a restoration and upgrade program. Since completion, the MG has covered around 4000 faultless miles and has arrived with us in beautiful cosmetic condition, with an impressive high value specification.
The MGB was stripped down to a rolling shell ahead of a complete body restoration that included all new front and rear wings, floor pans, sills, jacking points, castle rails, rear spring hangers, scuttle panel and front and rear Sebring conversion panels/ valances. The rebuilt body was taken back to the bare metal and then completely re-painted, and fitted with a new windscreen, Halogen headlights, indicators, sidelights, rear lights and new grill. Minilight style wheels were fitted to the MG, and new Dunlop tyres supplied. The interior was beautifully renovated with re-trimmed seats, door cards, new carpets and a leather rimmed steering wheel.

The impressive mechanical spec begins with the engine that was treated to a rebuild to include new +040 pistons and new main and big end bearings. The engine was fitted with a 715K Kent Cam, new cam bearings, new Duplex timing chain and timing gears, new tensioner, spigot bush and new core plugs. The cylinder head was rebuilt to an unleaded specification, a new rocker shaft assembly fitted, and the flywheel skimmed and lightened, and a new clutch and release bearing fitted along with a new water pump, alloy rocker box and a four branch tubular manifold and sports exhaust system.

Further work included rebuilding the carburettors, a new Aldon distributor and ignitor, the CWP rear axle unit was rebuilt, the gearbox and overdrive were inspected and found to be excellent with minimal work to be carried out, the steering rack was re-conditioned as required and the braking and suspension systems subject to new front drilled discs, rebuilt king pins, new Spax shock absorbers, new springs and A arms, new wheel bearings and seals, and the electrical system renewed with a brand new wiring loom.

VRH 439S has been finished to a beautiful standard and presents superbly with top quality paintwork, bodywork and its enhanced sleek styling. With total costs of more than our asking price, this has been a true labour of love for its recent owner, and attention to detail has gone into the car to ensure a high-quality finish, and an MGB GT to be proud to own. With its upgraded mechanical spec, the MGB offers improved performance and is ideal for regular use, touring and events and offers exceptional value for this level of quality and finish.
